Paul's Travels

It has been a long time (as you can see in the blog) since I wrote last.  I am now working at HOPE International School as the Development Officer with responsibilities for fund raising and facilitating improved communication between the school and our stakeholders, parents, donors and students.

It is the first time I have worked in a Christian company and I am just overwhelmed by the presence of Christ and God in everything that happens at the school.  We have praise, prayer and worship at the start of every day.  What an awesome way to start the work day.  It sets the tone and stage for the entire day and really puts all we do into perspective of being Christ centred.  The director's on fire for God and has an uncompromised stance that we're here to serve God and to provide a Christ centred education for the kids of the mission families who serving here in Cambodia.

Staff and teachers are all Christians and it makes such a huge difference - no politics, no hidden agendas, no one-upmanship, genuine care and concern for each other and the list goes on.  In one meeting we had it was so accurately stated that in a Christ-centred organization there's a common thread that runs through everything we do and that is to serve and honor the Lord.  Because of that we can make decisions and measure things and plan things with a yardstick that is eternal.

Our director's challenge this semester was taken from 2 Corinthians 6:10 "... sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich; having nothing, and yet possessing everything."  Why do we rejoice in sorrow - because we know where our hope is and why are we rich even though we may be poor and have nothing now - because our deposits are being made in heaven and not on earth.  What a great inspiration to keep in mind for what we are doing in our jobs and as teachers as they teach the children about  hope and storing treasures in heaven and not on earth.

I have now relocated to Phnom Penh, Cambodia. I am hoping that I will be able to start up a business here or perhaps do some consulting work or teaching here.  There seems to be plenty of opportunities it will be just a matter of picking the right niche and then marketing myself.

Pictures to follow soon.

Went to Toronto on 1 to 2 November 2011 to get my visitors visa for China. Took some pictures and had a quick walk around some of the CBD area in Toronto.  It has been 25 years since I have been back to Toronto and being there brought back lots of good memories of my time there.
